Conference Seminars
Pre-Conference Seminar
Moderators: Dan Wannick/ Dale Quattrin
The Sunday Pre-Conference seminar will be a hands-on investigation of some more advanced features and techniques in parametric modeling in Solid Edge and Autodesk Inventor.
On Line CAD Instruction
Is it possible to teach CAD online?
What software allows you to accomplish this?
How can students learn without being in a classroom, and from a live teacher?
What will online courses do to my regular course load?
Join us for a discussion in the feasibility and operation of online instruction.
Gary Mills has developed an online course which allows students the ability of taking a CAD class without leaving their school. (He teaches at a Technical Center) This class is in its second year, and he will share the strengths and weaknesses, joys and frustrations, battles and victories of online instruction. If you are interested in setting up an online course, or wondering if it is possible, join us in this instruction and training.

MDOT TRAC
The TRAC (Transportation and Civil Engineering) Program is sponsored by the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) and was created by the American Association of Highway Transportation Officials (AASHTO) to introduce Middle and High School students to Civil Engineering and Transportation Careers. TRAC is a hands-on education program designed for use in science, math, and social science classes. MDOT will provide teachers free training, modules (materials), and upon request – an engineer will visit your classroom to give a presentation on transportation and civil engineering careers.
Our session will consist of:
1) Explanation of the program, each of the modules, Design & Build Bridge Challenge, and the TRAC Student Internship Program.
2) Demonstrating some of the different modules, such as Bridge Builder; showcasing the design and construction of bridges and Motion and the Transportation Engineer; showcasing momentum and impulse.
Using ExamView in the Classroom
Most of all of Goodheart-Willcox books offer free test-generating software called ExamView as an instructors resource. Scott Lewis will provide a demonstration as to how the instructor can create these test, show how they are auto-graded and how they can implement these to their LAN or LMS Systems for assessment. For example, Blackboard or Angel.
Using Solidworks
Gary Lowell from DASI Solutions will be presenting skills and techniques in Solidworks.
Joe Woods will be discussing the use of a powerful CAD/CAM software package. It is easy to use and teach.
